huge crowd of up to 10,000 spectators lined Burnham's seafront
to watch a spectacular fireworks display on Sunday night.
dazzling 20-minute programme saw 5,000 fireworks launched into
the air, accompanied by music, from the jetty and beach.
crowds had to wait an extra 30 minutes after Skyburst, the firm
that runs the display on behalf of the Town Council, delayed the
start on health and safety grounds.
firm's Matthew Tosh told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The tide was
higher than expected and a number of last-minute safety checks
could not go ahead until the water receded, but it didn't spoil
the display at all."
Mayor, Ken Smout, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It was a fantastic
show that exceeded expectations. It was wonderful to see such
a huge crowd on the seafront and we thank them for their patience
in waiting for the start."
