In photos: Flooding hits Burnham and Brean as new warning is issued

Flash flooding caused by heavy overnight rain caused chaos on roads in the Burnham-On-Sea area on Monday morning (September 24th).

These were the scenes in Brean’s Warren Road where motorists struggled through up to nine inches of water to access Brean Down.

Several minor roads in Burnham, Brent Knoll, Brean, Berrow and East Huntspill also suffered flooding, as pictured below.

More bad weather is set to arrive and The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for Tuesday as more rain, accompanied by strong gales, is expected to hit the Burnham area. The Met Office has warned drivers and residents to be aware.

Several train services running through Highbridge and Burnham Station were also suspended due to flooding.

Severe flooding was reported in the Guildhall Lane and Gramball Lane area of Wedmore due to a swollen river, with water up to 3ft deep in some properties. Other locations locally affected were Vole Road in Mark, Burton Row in Brent Knoll, Mark Causeway Brent Road in East Brent, Rooksbridge Road in Highbridge, Withy Road in East Huntspill.
