In photos: Burnham-On-Sea Girl Guides get into Olympics spirit

Girl
Guides from across the Burnham-On-Sea area got into the Olympics
spirit this week by taking part in their own London 2012 themed
event in Brent Knoll.
The
event on Thursday night (May 24th) was held on Brent Knoll Village
Green in memory of Connie Robb, a past Guides District Commissioner
that is remembered every year.
The
girls and young women, aged 5 upwards, took part in a wide range
of Olympic-based events, including an opening ceremony and a tug
of war!
It
comes after Girlguiding UK invited members to get involved in
London 2012 to encourage them to be active, learn about the cultures
of different countries around the world, and to explore the values
that underpin the Olympic and Paralympic movements.
Kate
Sutton, leader with the Brownies and event organiser, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"We are already really excited about the Games in London
this summer and this week's torch relay was something we wanted
to take part with in our own way. We want to inspire the local
girls to follow the events and they have learnt a lot about the
spirit of competition."
