That’s the last straw! Lorry spill causes M5 delays near Burnham

-

Motorists on the M5 approaching Burnham-On-Sea faced further delays on Saturday (July 28th) after a lorry shed part of its load of straw across the carriageway.

One lane of the motorway’s northbound carriageway between junction 24 at Bridgwater and junction 23 at Highbridge was closed following the mid-morning incident.

A police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the Highways Agency had temporarily closed one lane for over an hour to allow a full clean-up operation to be undertaken, as pictured.

Our photos show the scenes on the M5 near the end of the clean-up.

Long queues of slow-moving traffic built up for motorists travelling northbound during a busy holiday weekend. It came just a day after two accidents caused delays to traffic, as covered here.
