Entries open for Burnham-On-Sea's 45th annual Horticultural Show

Entries
have opened for Burnham-On-Sea Horticultural Societys 45th
annual show, which is set to take place during August.
Green-fingered
residents across the Burnham-On-Sea are being invited to show
off their gardening and craft skills at the event, which will
be held on August 11th and 12th at Sanders Garden World in Brent
Knoll.
David
Bryant, the Annual Show Secretary, explained: "This is the
ninth successive year we have held the event at the garden centre
and we hope lots of people will come and see just how much fun
gardening can be. Weve also got sections for crafts and
photography."
"The
categories in which competitors are invited to enter include floral
art, junior, domestic and handicraft, such as hand-made cards,
crochet and knitted items, cross stitch and tapestry."
"People
will also be able to enter sections for amateur photography, pot
plants, flowers, fruit and vegetables."
Entrants
will have the opportunity to win a variety of prizes such as cups,
shields and medals in the competition.
There
will also be classes for children in two categories, under 11-year-olds
and 11 to 16-year-olds.
The
show is open to the public on Saturday August 11th from 1pm until
6pm and on Sunday August 12th from 10am until 4pm. The prize-giving
and awards presentation ceremony will be held at 3.45pm on the
Sunday. Admission to the event is free.
Details
on how to enter, fees and a complete list of classes can be obtained
from David, who is also the resident rose expert at the garden
centre, on 01278 761111.
