The Met Office has warned of icy conditions on roads in and around Burnham-On-Sea tonight and during the early hours of Saturday.

A new yellow warning – the least severe of the three types of Met Office warnings – is in place due to the wintry conditions.

Temperatures are set to drop to -1 degrees Centigrade, but forecasters have warned it will feel more like -3 degrees Centigrade in the northerly winds.

The Met Office said: “Due to the recent wet weather there is an increased risk of icy patches, even on roads that have been treated with salt, where water run off and seepage may wash off any earlier salt treatment. Therefore the public should be aware of the risk of ice on roads and pavements.”

There is also a slight possibility of sleet over the coming days in the Burnham area.
