Van driver rushed to hospital after crash with lorry in Highbridge

The
driver of this van was rushed to hospital on Thursday evening
(May 17th) after a serious accident in Highbridge.
Police,
fire and ambulance crews were called to the town's Isleport Industrial
Estate after a red van ploughed into the back of a parked lorry
in Bennett Road.
Police
told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the man inside had been "incredibly
lucky to avoid serious injury" after colliding with the corner
of the lorry, as pictured.
Police
closed the road, causing heavy congestion or motorists due to
the nightime closure of the town's Church Street during eight
days of evening roadworks.
The
road was not fully re-opened by police until around 8.40pm once
the truck was removed by a recovery service.
An
ambulance spokesman confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: "A male
in his mid-30s was taken to Weston General Hospital with injuries
that were not thought to be serious."
