photos: Jet skier rescues stricken boat in Burnham-On-Sea

The
owners of a boat that was left drifting after breaking down have
thanked a jet skier for coming to their rescue on Saturday (August
11th).
Jet
skier Kevin Sharpe from Gloucester spotted the boat drifting in
the fast-flowing waters near Stert Island, opposite Burnham-On-Sea,
at 1.30pm after it lost power due to a fuel problem.
Kevin
attached a rope to the stricken vessel - which had five people
onboard - and towed its grateful occupants to the safety of Burnham
beach, as pictured.
Boat
owner Edward Livery thanked his rescuer and told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"We are very grateful for Kevin's help. The
boat developed a fuel pump problem which left us without power
and drifting in the bay. We were in an awkward position and Kevin
was a real 'good Samaritan'."
Kevin
played down his involvement, saying: "I was happy to help
- all water users muck in together when there's a problem like
this."
