Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor has expressed his condolences to the family of four year-old Dylan Cecil, who went missing in the sea after slipping from the town’s jetty on Sunday.

Cllr Ken Smout, pictured, says the whole town has had the little boy in its thoughts this week.

He said: “Members of the Town Council and the residents of Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge have been shocked by the tragic accident to Dylan Cecil which has taken place this week and our thoughts are with the family at this time.”

“The feelings and support of the local community has been demonstrated by the number of people who have visited the seafront and, in many cases, laid flowers to show their sorrow at what has taken place.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the sea rescue service crews who have worked tirelessly over many hours performing their duties as volunteers during the last few days. Their dedication, and efforts, have been a credit to them.”
