Highbridge
maths students become project managers for a day!
Pupils
at Highbridge's King Alfred School have been picking up project
management expertise during a unique series of maths classes this
week.
The
Year 7 pupils were set the challenge of designing and costing
a garage for a motorbike.
The
project tested the students on the functional elements of their
maths curriculum.
"Within
each team, students were given roles of Project Manager, Architect,
Researcher and Costing Manager," the school's Simon Aylward
told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"They
had to get measurements, the costs of materials, plan the design
and size of the garage, and create models of their project before
finally presenting it to others. They really enjoyed the experience."
The
finished designs ranged from budget versions, to environmentally
friendly ones and upmarket, deluxe garages.
