Burnham BMX rider joins Olympic gold medalists on victory parade

-

Burnham-On-Sea BMX biker Liam Phillips rubbed shoulders with some of Team GB’s cycling gold medalists at a Victory Parade in London on Monday (September 10th).

Liam was among 800 Olympic and Paralympic competitors – including Highbridge swimmer Anthony Stephens – who travelled through the capital on 21 floats to mark the end of the summer’s sporting events.

Hundreds of thousands of people lined the route of the victory parade to cheer on Britain’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

Liam is pictured with Team GB’s cyclists – double gold medalist Geraint Thomas, gold medallist Steven Burke, Olympic champion Philip Hindes, double gold medalist Ed Clancy and three times Olympic Champion Jason Kenny.

Liam tweeted after the big parade: “Amazing support from everyone once again, thank you!”

Liam reached the BMX final following superb performances in the qualification rounds, but sadly crashed out in the crucial final race, ending his hopes of winning a medal, as Burnham-On-Sea.com covered here.
