Crews
tackle car blaze on M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea
A
dramatic blaze on the M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea brought
traffic to a standstill on Friday night (November 9th).
A
Burnham-On-Sea.com reader took this mobile phone photo of the
scene from a bridge near Sedgemoor Services.
Two
fire crews from Weston and one from Burnham-On-Sea were called
to the southbound carriageway at 9.40pm.
A
fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "One car had hit
the central reservation and spun round and stopped in the centre
lane where it was then hit by an oncoming vehicle."
"There
were three people, believed to be army personnel, inside at the
time. The motorists were treated at the scene by paramedics."
The
southbound carriageway was closed for almost an hour while the
emergency services were at the scene and recovery of the vehicles
took place.
