Two fire engines were sent from Burnham-On-Sea and Weston to a single-vehicle crash on the M5 motorway on Tuesday morning (August 28th).

Crews were called to the M5 between junctions 21 and 22 just after 10.30am to a one vehicle collision in which it was initially uncertain whether people were still within the vehicle.

A fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “On arrival, crews confirmed all persons were out of the vehicle, which had gone into the central reservation in the third lane.”

Crews checked the vehicle was safe before it was recovered a short time later. The incident led to a build-up of holiday traffic on the motorway.
