Burnham-On-Sea firefighters tackled a car blaze on the M5 motorway early on Saturday (December 22nd).

Two fire crews were called to the northbound carriageway between junctions 22 at Burnham and 21 at Weston shortly after 4am.

A vehicle had crashed into the central reservation and burst into flames.

“Crews confirmed that the vehicle was well alight and got to work extinguishing the fire using two hose reel jets and one foam jet,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The carriageway was closed while emergency services were at the scene.
