Brent
Knoll garden centre announces marrow growing contest winner
A
green-fingered boy has won a marrow growing competition at a garden
centre in Brent Knoll.
Nine-year-old
Ben Austwick won the top prize in the competition, which was run
by Sanders Garden World.
Phil Tyzack, Manager, said: "During the May Bank Holiday
we gave away free marrow plants to children as part of our Vegetable
and Allotment Weekend."
"The children were then invited back to the garden centre
to take part in a competition to see who had nurtured their plant
and grown the biggest marrow."
"We would like to congratulate Ben on winning the competition
and we hope he enjoyed growing the marrow."
Ben won a £10 garden centre gift card and Phil added that
the competition was a great way for children to learn more about
growing their own vegetables.
