King
and Queen appointed during May Day celebration in Burnham!
A
traditional May Day celebration took place today in Burnham-On-Sea
this afternoon (Monday).
The
event was scheduled to be held in the town's Marine Cove gardens
but was moved to the Bay Centre in Cassis Close due to the threat
of wet weather.
The
May Day Celebration saw the crowning of a Marine Cove King and
Queen - Michael Oliver and Chloe Orledge - by Burnham and Highbridge
Carnival Queen Jenny Yip along with entertainment from local groups.
"St
Joseph's School May Pole dancers put on a great display, with
traditional floral hoops and garlands, and there was also a demonstration
by Berrow's Fei Lung Kwan martial arts group," organiser
Jacqui Strong told Burnham-On-Sea.com. "It was a great afternoon
despite the re-location because of the weather."

A living statue was set-up in the centre for the afternoon
