Met Office issues severe weather warning for Burnham-On-Sea area

Residents across the south west - including Burnham-On-Sea - have been warned to expect severe gales and heavy rainfall on Tuesday (January 3rd).

The Met Office has issued an 'amber warning' and predicted winds gusting up to 60mph plus heavy, persistent rain will sweep across the area.

It says: "A spell of wet and very windy weather will affect the UK during Tuesday. The public should be aware of the possibility of disruption due to strong winds."

"The windiest conditions will mainly be during Tuesday morning. A spell of heavy rain will also affect many regions, leading to localised flooding."

Futher heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds, is also forecast for parts of the south west on Wednesday.
