Met
Office updates weather alerts as heavy rain heads to Burnham area
The
Met Office has updated its weather warnings for the Burnham-On-Sea
area as a belt of heavy rain is set to sweep in.
The
'Yellow Alert' issued for today (Thursday) now only affects the
far south west - not the Burnham area.
However,
warnings continue to be in effect for our area on Friday and Saturday
as the remnants of a former tropical storm are expected to head
across the south west.
"There
is the potential for periods of heavy rain during the 36 hours
from Thursday evening until Saturday morning," says the Met
Office. "However, there remains considerable uncertainty
in the northward extent of this heavy rain and the area covered
by the alert is likely to be adjusted as the event approaches."
"The
public should be aware of the possibility of disruption to travel
due to localised flooding."
Last
week, several areas around Burnham including Brean (above) were
flooded after heavy rain.
