Scores
of Minis to cruise along Burnham-On-Sea seafront on Sunday
Scores
of minis will be cruising along Burnham-On-Sea seafront and through
Brean on Sunday afternoon (July 8th) during a fundraising event.
The
vehicles will be taking part in a Charity Mini Show, being held
at Brent Knoll's Sanders Garden World, in aid of Dorset and Somerset
Air Ambulance.
Phil
Tyzack, Manager of the garden centre, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"We are looking forward to hosting the show, where people
will be able to display their Minis and enter them to be judged
in a 'show and shine' competition."
"After
the event, drivers are being invited to participate in a Mini
cruise, which will take drivers along the seafronts in Burnham,
Brean and Weston-super-Mare, over to Cheddar and back to the garden
centre."
The
Charity Mini Show takes place at Sanders from 10am until 2.30pm.
Gates will open at 9am, judging will take place at 12 noon and
presentations will be held at 1.30pm. The Mini Cruise will leave
the garden centre at approximately 2.30pm and will return at around
3.30pm.
There
will be six categories to enter in the competition: best Mini
pre 1970, best Mini between 1970 and 1990, best Mini post 1990s,
best new Mini and best in show. Winners of each category will
receive a small plaque or trophy and a motoring goodie. Owners
will be asked to make a donation to the charity.
Scott
Thomas, who runs Ford Focus specialists, The Focus Point based
in Bristol and owns a Classic 1996 Mini Cooper, is organising
and sponsoring the event, along with Dan Smith from DDs
Autoshine in Highbridge. Those interested in displaying a vehicle
should call 077718 14342.
