Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards and two lifeboats were launched on Sunday after reports that a girl had gone missing on Brean beach.

The two lifeboats had just returned from an exercise during Burnham’s annual rescue services day when they were tasked by Coastguards to investigate reports of a four-year-old girl missing on the beach.

Fortunately, the child was found as the lifeboats arrived on scene and they were quickly stood down and returned to their station.

Burnham Coastguard Officer Steve Bird told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The girl had become disorientated and got separated from her parents. Fortunately, she was quickly reuinted with her family.”

Helmsman Glenn Cutter added: “We are thankful after this very difficult week that the child was found safe and sound on shore.”
