-

Members of Highbridge’s Monarchs Acro Gymnastics Team are celebrating after winning a haul of medals at their first competition of the year.

A group of 35 gymnasts from the club travelled to Taunton to compete against 15 other clubs for medals as they performed their routines.

This was the first competition for some of the gymnasts and in a very competitive Grade 1 Women’s Groups category, congratulations went to Madeleine Richardson, a new competitor, who won the bronze medal with Madeleine Rose and Jazmine Bassett. Jazmine stood in at the last minute due to an injury.

Charlotte Bray also competed for the first time, with Eloise Baker and Holly Grainger finishing in a well-deserved fifth position.

Heather Reed with her trio, Olivia Augar, another new competitor, and Victoria Prior, gained eighth place. Heather achieved her highest score to date and Casey House, Alice Kelson and new addition Grace Huggins also gained eighth place within their category.

Emily Woolley and Shauna Cross, Grade 2 Woman’s Pairs, achieved a fantastic sixth place and also formed a new trio partnership with Katie Hoskins gaining fifth overall in grade 2 womens groups. This was Katie’s first competition as a base.

An impressive performance by Alice Dymond and Natasha Stockham gained them the Silver Medal in Grade 3 Women’s Pairs category.

Grade 4 Women’s Trio, Tallulah Harris, Poppy Broom and Sian Coogan, performed artistic routines which won them the Bronze Medal, while Shannon House, Emma Dymond and Mia Rowlands gained 4th position.

The men’s four continue to perfect their Tempo and Balance routines, winning the Gold Medal in the Grade 4 Men’s Group.

Gemma Dade, Molly Hayes, Leonie Warburton, Ellie Petrie, Chloe Hayes, Caitlyn Cross, Mulberry Watkins and Holly Grainger also competed and performed well in their categories.

“We are all very proud. The gymnasts have worked really hard and have all done really well,” club parent Tracey Cross told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“All the gymnasts were fantastic!” added Coach Mandy Warburton. “All the coaches are very proud!”
