Join Royal Jubilee glass mosaic making workshops in Highbridge

-

A series of glass mosaic making workshops with a Royal Jubilee theme are to be held in Highbridge over the next few weeks.

Sedgemoor Community Partnership is running the workshops, led by an experienced tutor, in Morland Hall with support of the Town Council and Somerset Skills and Learning.

“On this short course you will be supported in the designing and making of your own Mosaic Art Creation based on the Queens Diamond Jubilee Logo, which will form a part of a joint collaboration project,” organiser Richard Matthews told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“These workshops aim to provide a fun and exciting introduction to planning and making your very own mosaic. The course will provide you with the basics of how to create your own mosaic under the guidance of an experienced tutor. The main aim is to have fun and create some thing colourful and attractive to be shared and admired.”

The workshops will be held each Tuesday from 13th March (10.30am-12.30pm) until Tuesday 17th April 2012 with a break for Easter.

Angie Dibble, who has specialised in stained glass work for 12 years, will lead the training. She also teaches the subject regularly at adult classes in Somerset.

Sedgemoor Community Partnership will give priority to people who can demonstrate they are in receipt of benefits, on low income or are not currently in work. To be eligible for a free course the learners would need to be in receipt of Income Support, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, Pension Guarantee Credit, Unemployed people in receipt of Jobseekers’ Allowance, those in receipt of Working Tax Credit. Attendance will be required at all the sessions.

For those who do not qualify for the free course, total workshop cost a charge may be made for materials used.

Learners will need to complete an enrolment form and an Individual Learning Plan. To book a place, contact Richard Mathews, SCP Administrator, on 07827 647856 or email him here.
