Burnham-On-Sea’s MP has visited a local post office to lend a hand sorting the Christmas post this week.

Tessa Munt met the team in Axbridge where she got a feel for the massive task with which the staff has to cope at this festive time.

Compared with last year, Axbridge Post Office has seen an increased number of letters and cards, and a much larger number of parcels and packets to deliver to homes in the town and many villages across the area.

Tessa said: “Our local town and village post offices cope with a huge workload at Christmas. It was great to meet with them and chat about their work, families, interests and the future. I’m a huge supporter of our rural post offices and am very pleased that they have won the DVLA contract.”
