Highbridge nursing student celebrates success with friends

-

A Highbridge woman is among a group of Weston College friends celebrating after all getting places on the same university course.

Emma Bobbett, 33, along with Leanne Preston, Alex Brammer and Lamisa Agilah are all on Weston College’s Access to Higher Education course, and all have been offered places on the University of the West of England’s (UWE) degree course in adult nursing.

Emma had always wanted to go into nursing but spent most of her 20s bringing up children. “Now they’re a bit older I thought the time was right to go for it, but if I hadn’t done the preparation I think I’d have struggled,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The four attended the UWE interview together and went through a tough assessment. There were just 15 places on offer for 68 candidates and the students are overjoyed to find they’ve all made it through.

All four will begin their course at UWE in September. Gill Wilmot, Weston College Curriculum Manager, Continuing Education, said: “I’m very impressed with them all, they were very strong candidates and they thoroughly deserve their success.”
