Burnham’s youth theatre group to perform ‘Pinafore Pirates’ tonight

-

The first performance by a new youth theatre group in Burnham-On-Sea will be held this evening (Friday).

Members of Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Youth Theatre are preparing for two performances of ‘Pinafore Pirates’, a pastiche on the work of Gilbert and Sullivan, written for children to perform and enjoy.

Shows will be held at Burnham’s Princess Theatre today (Friday 5th October) at 7pm and on Saturday 6th October at the same time.

Tickets cost £5 for standard entry and £3 for concessions. They are available from the Princess Box Office on 01278 784464.

Jonathan Smith, the BOSH Youth Theatre Coordinator, told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the group’s final preparations have been going well and that cast is looking forward to the performances.

“This is going to be a great night of drama and songs with some surprises along the way,” he said.

“It has been a great way for the young people to cut their teeth on performing and learning the skills of the theatre. We are also being joined by local dancers from Dancefit who will be accompanying us on stage.”

Meanwhile, from 16th October the BOSH Youth Theatre will start a new course running until July 2013. Workshops and training will be offered along with opportunities to perform and gain an arts award qualification. Annual membership costs £20 and includes a BOSH hoodie. To register for the new term starting on 16th October, call 784464 or email here.
