Highbridge
police pod re-launched for busy summer ahead
Highbridge's
community police pod has been re-launched this week ahead of a
busy summer of special events.
Located
in the car park at the town's Asda supermarket, the Pod was initially
opened in 2009.
It
is staffed by police volunteers who have had appropriate training
to provide a professional and efficient level of service.
Any
queries, concerns and intelligence can be passed confidentially
to them, with the local beat team being made aware as necessary.
They also provide the public with crime reduction information.
PCSOs
Sarah-Jane England and Pete Williams, who are covering the Highbridge
beat, are introducing new beat surgeries at the pod with a monthly
crime reduction theme.
There
will also be events throughout the summer where residents can
get bicycles and mobile phones securely marked.
Sarah
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We want to provide as much opportunity
as we can for the community to be able to contact the Police and
let us know whats going on in their area so we can focus
our efforts on maintaining a safer, stronger neighbourhood."
The
pod's opening hours are Monday (closed), Tuesday (3.45pm-4.45pm),
Wednesday (10am-noon), Thursday (2pm-4pm police surgery), Friday
(closed), Saturday (9am-10am) and Sunday (bi-weekly 2pm-4pm).
August's theme will be Cycle Theft & Security Marking.
