Burnham-On-Sea
pool short-listed for Swim School Of The Year award
Burnham-On-Sea's
Swim and Sports Academy could be named the UK's Swim School of
the Year later this week.
The
facilities in Berrow Road, Burnham have been short-listed for
the award, along with two other swimming schools, in the annual
Kelloggs ASA Swimtastic Awards.
The
winner is set to be announced at a ceremony in Sheffield this
Saturday (20th October).
The
academy's owners, Mark
and Sara Cox-Conklin, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week
they are delighted to have reached the final three.
Sara
said: "It's a huge honour to be recognised as one of the
UK's top swim schools and we are excited about this week's awards."
Burnham's
Swim and Sports Academy is up against Havering & Hornchurch
School of Swimming, based in Essex, and Quackers Swim School,
based in Nottingham.
The
award is given to a swim school which provides an excellent service
to its members and assists the development of its swimmers and
staff, while continually striving to achieve high standards.
Mark
and Sara saved the 30 year-old pool from closure in 2008 and re-launched
it as the privately-run Burnham Swim and Sports Academy. During
its first year, the academy saw 350 children take lessons each
week and it now has 967 students.
Saturday's
ceremony will be hosted by GB Aquatic Olympians Nick Robinson
Baker, Hannah Miley and Jenna Randall.
