Over
90 cars ready to roar into action at this
weekend's Brean Rally

The
smell of burning rubber and the sound of screeching tyres will
be in the air at Brean this weekend when dozens of teams take
part in the village's annual car rally.
Brean
Leisure Park is hosting the 16th annual K&R Mitsubishi Stages
Rally on Saturday and Sunday (January 28th and 29th).
With
an entry of more than 90 competitors gathered from all parts of
the South West and beyond, the organisers are expecting some close
competition throughout the classes.
Among
the entries for 2012 will be drivers out to defend their 2011
championship titles and start the new season in winning style.
The rally will contain a range of cars, from Ford Escorts, Vauxhall
Novas, Corsas and Peugeots, through to state of the art World
Rally Cars, such as the Ford Fiesta and Focus, Subaru Impreza
and Mitsubishi Evos.
The
rally is split into sections, leg one is on Saturday with six
special stages and leg two is on Sunday with a further six special
stages.
Organiser
Rod McKenna told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "This is the sixteenth
year for this popular rally and it has attracted what is probably
the highest standard of entry in its history, with several World
Rally Cars among the top entries."
Spectators
will be able to watch the action from a covered seated grandstand
and heated refreshments will be available. All other indoor catering
facilities will also be available within the park.
Spectators
will be admitted to the park over both days for a charge of £5
(accompanied children under 12 will be admitted free) and car
parking will be £5. Gates open from 8.30am on both days
and racing will start at 10am each day.
The
rally will be supporting two organisations, Dorset and Somerset
Air Ambulance and specialist motor sport rescue unit West Country
Rescue.
One
of the supporting attractions over the weekend will be a display
stand representing Dorchester-based Clay Pigeon Kart Club who
will be displaying a whole range of karts, from junior through
to senior formulas. Experts will be on hand to advise on all aspects
of the sport.
