Burnham-On-Sea police have issued an appeal for information after a man was robbed on the town’s beach on Monday (September 10th).

The man was walking between Burnham and Berrow when, just after 1pm, two other men approached him near the old lighthouse and stole his wallet containing £180 cash, bank cards and his driving licence.

They also robbed him of a gold chain and a Royalty gent’s wrist watch with a leather strap.

The watch is distinctive, with a compass on the back of it, and a black leather strap which is cream in colour on the inside. It has several hands with roman numerals and gem stones – one of which had broken off and is loose inside.

Police spokeswoman Claire Stanley told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’d like to speak to the two men or anyone who may know them. The first is described as white, around 19-20 years old, around 5ft 8 to 5ft 11 tall and of a skinny build. He had cropped short ginger hair and spoke with a local Somerset accent. He was wearing a gold sovereign ring on his left had, a green hooded style sweat shirt with the Adidas logo in white on front, blue denim jeans with pockets by the knees and the backs of the legs and white Animal trainers.”

“The second man is described as white, around 19-20 years old, well built with a high forehead and short, dark straight hair which was brushed forwards and slightly shorter around the back and sides and a spotty complexion. He was wearing a black zipped hooded style top with a white T-shirt underneath, black silky jogging bottoms with small white Umbro motif near the right hand pocket and Umbro printed down side of right thigh and black and white Nike air max trainers with a grey bubble in the heal. He spoke with a local Somerset accent.”

Police have urged any residents who know the men, have information about the incident, or have been offered any goods for sale, to telephone the non-emergency police number 101, quoting crime reference 99038/12.
