A Burnham-On-Sea school’s plans to extend its car parking facilities have this week been approval by town councillors.

St Andrew’s School in Dunstan Road wants to create an extra 18 spaces for vehicles, taking its total spaces from 26 to 44.

The land is currently used as grass area at the side of the school and town councillors at Monday’s meeting of the planning applications committee questioned whether it would take away playing area space from children, but decided the impact would be minimal.

The application will be considered by Sedgemoor District Council over the coming weeks for a final decision.
