Burnham police issue appeal after car flattens traffic light
on seafront

Burnham-On-Sea
police have appealed for witnesses to come forward following an
early morning crash on the town's seafront which left this traffic
light flattened.
Officers
were called to the South Esplanade at around 1am today (Thursday,
June 7th) following the incident on the pedestrian crossing besides
the Bay View Cafe.
Spokesman
Wayne Baker told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Police were called
to an accident near Pier Street shortly before 1am where a car
was in collision with a traffic light."
"The
car had driven away or was taken away from the scene and we are
interested to hear from anyone who saw the incident. They should
contact us on the non-emergency police number 101."
The
crossing has been temporarily taken out of action by Somerset
County Council while the repairs are made.
