Get on your bike for charity! Secret World holds fundraising cycle ride

-

Supporters of East Huntspill’s Secret World wild animal rescue centre are being invited to get on their bikes to help the charity’s £4m fundraising campaign.

The charity, located near Burnham-On-Sea, is holding a Willows and Romans fundraising cycle ride on Sunday April 15th towards its £4.4 million project to build a new animal hospital.

The aim of the ride will be to make people, especially youngsters, more aware of wildlife and the joys of being out in the countryside while at the same time raising funds.

Charity founder Pauline Kidner told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Sadly, it is a fact that children now spend half the time outdoors that they did 40 years ago and many could not even identify an oak tree.”

Starting and finishing at Secret World, there will be an opportunity to see some of the sanctuary’s wildlife guests before setting out to explore beauty spots on the Somerset Levels during the cycle ride.

The event is being organised by Bridgwater Cycling Club and comprises of a two-hour circuit, mainly on the flat, for families and other cyclists or a 4-5 hour circuit for those who want to go a bit further.

Pauline added: “The launching of our new Call of the Wild hospital and education centre project is a positive move to redress the balance and we are appealing for everyone in the region to give us their support so that we can open on schedule in 2013.”
