Missing sex offender could be in Burnham-On-Sea, say police

Police have this week asked residents in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge to look out for a missing registered sex offender who could be in our area.

They say Lee Whitting has failed to let them know where he is living and may be in East or West Somerset, possibly in Taunton, Burnham-On-Sea or Highbridge.

"We're seeking information from the public to locate a man wanted by officers following a serious assault," a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

"Meticulous enquiries have been carried out, but we have been unable to locate Whitting and believe that he may be in the Somerset East and West areas."

He is described as white, around 5ft 9inches tall, of slim build and with dark brown hair that is receding and a beard. He looks unkempt.

Police have asked that anyone with information about his whereabouts calls DC Andrew Daw at Taunton CID by calling 101.
