Man
who 'threatened policeman' arrested after huge search in town

A
man who allegedly threatened to kill a policeman in Burnham-On-Sea
was arrested after a major air and ground search last night (Monday).
Police
were initially called out at 8pm after the man threatened an officer
with a weapon and ran off.
A
police helicopter was called in to search a large area of the
town, including the area around Highbridge Train Station.
The
man was eventually arrested in Brunel's Way just off Pople's Bow
half a mile away after police used a taser gun to restrain him.
Police
spokesman Martin Dunscombe confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: "At
around 8pm, police were called to a man causing problems. We tried
to talk to him, but he ran away and was later arrested in Brunel's
way at 9.40pm."
"He
was arrested on suspicion of threat to kill and possession of
a knife blade or sharply pointed article."
Train
services had been halted and Highbridge station was temporarily
closed while police dealt with the incident.

There
was a heavy police presence in Pople's Bow, where the man was
arrested
