Burnham slimmer loses 4st 9lb to win ‘Woman Of The Year’ title

-

A Burnham-On-Sea woman has been crowned the winner of a Slimming World competition after losing more than four stone in a year.

Kelly-Marie French-Bell has shed 4st 9lb in just over a year ago.

She and Keran Parker, who runs Burnham’s Slimming World club, attended the district ‘Woman of the Year’ finals in Yeovil on Sunday.

Kelly beat 12 semi-finalists to win the top award of ‘Woman of the Year’ and said it had been “an amazing day.”

She started slimming after her weight steadily increased and she reached a clothing size of 20/22. “I was probably at the lowest point in my life and had become more and more depressed with my size, suffering with asthma, which made things even worse,” she said.

But several of Kelly’s friends invited her along to Slimming World in Burnham and that was the turning point.

“It was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Food optimising has taught me to eat more healthier than I’d ever thought possible and to diet without hunger or deprivation.”

“I was also encouraged to ‘excersize’ and the one supported the other. My first week’s weight loss was 6 1/2 lbs and I was hooked. I get encouragement and great support and would recommend it to everyone.”

She added: “Since losing the weight my asthma has practically disappeared and there are so many health benefits. Winning this competition has boosted my confidence and self esteem.”

Slimming World meets at the Old Court House in Jaycroft Road every Monday at 10am and 12 noon and every Tuesday at 3.30pm, 5.15pm and 7pm.
