Burnham-On-Sea tennis club’s school visit proves a smash hit!

-

Coaches from Burnham-On-Sea’s Avenue Tennis Club have made a special visit to pupils at a school in the town this week to introduce youngsters to the sport.

Head Coach Vinny Duddy and Club Coach Craig Phillips visited Burnham’s St Andrews Junior School, spending two mornings with the youngsters.

They showed the teachers several fun indoor tennis games which will make use of the free tennis equipment that the school has recently received from the Tennis Foundation.

Duddy said the teachers were “fantastic and enthusiastic and the kids were even better.”

The club has organised a follow-on day of tennis coaching and games at the tennis club for both Burnham Infants and St Andrews Schools on their Inset Day on 16th April.

He added that he hoped the children will encourage their parents to bring them to the Avenue’s Open Day on March 18th or get them involved in the coaching squads that run every night of the week.

Tickets are still available for the club’s St Patrick’s Night Celebration on Saturday 17th March from 7.30 pm where there will be live music and an Irish Menu for £10 and £4 for juniors from 12 – 16 years old.
