New-look road signs will soon to be installed at the entrances to Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge thanks to the work of a local artist.

Judith Champion, pictured, has been commissioned by the Town Council to design the artwork for the signs which will replace the old structures that had been place for over 30 years.

“It’s a unique opportunity to design an important piece of artwork that needs to be instantly recognisable and stand out,” Judith told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“I have taken a fresh look at what’s on the signs and, with guidance from the Town Council, have decided on Burnham lighthouse and the new Highbridge clock.”

“It is quite an honour to be invited to design the artwork. I intend to finish it over the summer.”

The new signs will be sited on the Isleport roundabout on the A38, the approach to Walrow and, in time, along Burnham’s Queen’s Drive.
