Warning of more heavy rain for Burnham area on Christmas Eve

-

The current spell of wet weather shows no signs of letting up with forecasters issuing a new warning of more heavy rainfall in the Burnham-On-Sea area on Christmas Eve.

A yellow warning is in place for the Burnham area from midnight on Christmas Eve until 6pm as another weather front of rain will pass through.

The Met Office says an additional 10-20mm of rain could fall with up to 30mm in places, making more flooding on local roads a possibility, coming just 24 hours after flooding in the Burnham area on Saturday.

“Further spells of rain are expected to affect southwest England during Christmas Eve. Given already saturated ground from recent rainfall, the public should be prepared for an increased risk of both surface water and river flooding along with disruption to travel.”
