Severe weather warning issued for today in Burnham-On-Sea area

Heavy rain and gale-force winds are forecast to hit the Burnham-On-Sea area during the first half of today (Sunday, April 29th), prompting the Met Office to issue a severe weather warning.

A yellow warning has been issued for the south west region and is valid until midnight this evening.

"Northeasterly winds will strengthen, with gales or perhaps severe gales around exposed coasts," said a Met Office spokesman.

"Heavy rain spread across the region through Saturday night into Sunday, lasting through the night."

"The public should be aware that this may lead to some local flooding given the recent wet conditions, and that northeasterly winds may exceed 50mph in some locations, bringing the risk of falling trees."
