In photos: Burnham-On-Sea Spring Aquathlon attracts 100 entrants

More than 100 people took part in Burnham-On-Sea's annual Spring Aquathlon on Sunday morning (April 7th).

The event, which was organised by Burnham Swim and Sports Academy, comprised of a 500 metre swim at Burnham Pool followed by a 5km run along the beach and seafront.

Owen Meredith from Taunton, pictured above, won the event in a time of 30 minutes, which was 12 seconds ahead of local runner Adrian Rigby in second place.

Six children's Splash n' Dash races were also well supported, with over 75 youngsters taking part. Full results here.

Burnham runner Arthur Gilbert, 92, who is the world's oldest triathlete, handed out the awards to the children at the end of the races.

The academy's Martin Rogers told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It was a very chilly morning, but we were pleased with how it went and thank everyone for supporting the event and making it another success."
