Burnham-On-Sea army cadets join military exercise on Mendips

-

Army cadets from Burnham-On-Sea took part in a variety of different activities during a wet, but well attended event on the Mendip Hills.

Members of the platoon, based near Apex Park, had the opportunity to have fun and learn a variety of new skills dependant on their current progression level and age.

The majority of the cadets took part in a two-day military exercise. As well as carrying all of the kit required for two days and nights, being self sufficient, the cadets’ shelter-building skills were put to the ultimate test during torrential rain and howling winds!

The chief instructor on the course was delighted that all of the students passed their course, three of whom were from Burnham and they are now equipped to deal with potentially life saving situations.

Walking from Weston-super-Mare to the top of Cheddar Gorge was the task in store for the Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s expedition. The weather changed for the better on the final day of their trek.

All the cadets that attended are looking forward to attending the next weekend in November. To find out more about the Army Cadet Force please click here.
