Burnham-On-Sea Lions raise £980 for town’s rescue hovercraft charity

-

Burnham-On-Sea Lions Club has this week handed over a bumper cheque for almost £1,000 to a rescue charity in the town.

Burnham Lions President Greg Kelloway presented a cheque for £980 to BARB, the charity that runs the town’s rescue hovercrafts, towards the cost of new equipment.

The cash was raised by Lions Club members during collections from shoppers at the town’s Tesco supermarket.

BARB Chairman Mark Newman and Operations Manger Mike Lowe, pictured, thanked the group for their “very generous support” and added that it will be used to purchase new searchlights for use during night-time incidents.
