A winter beach clean is to be held on Saturday 2nd November with volunteers scouring the sand for litter and dangerous objects.

Sedgemoor District Council is organising the event, to be held on Berrow and Burnham-On-Sea beaches.

The council is inviting volunteers to meet at 10am at either Berrow beach or on Burnham beach by Maddock’s Slade at the northern end of the seafront.

Both groups of volunteers will then proceed along the beach, joining forces just past the lower lighthouse.

The clean-up will last two to three hours with gloves, bags and litter-picking kit all being provided by the council.

Sedgemoor’s staff will also be on hand to collect sharp, dangerous or heavy items and all litter collected will be taken away and recycled. A short safety talk will be held before the clean-up begins.
