Proposals to introduce an inflatable football pitch on Burnham beach this summer have been given the go-ahead by town councillors this week.

Local youth football group Somerset Soccer Schools sought approval for the new beach attraction, which will be located between the jetty and Pavilion.

Luke Hussey from Somerset Soccer Schools said: “The facility will focus on the fun aspects of the game. The inflatable pitch, measuring around 20 metres by 16 metres, will ensure that the playing area is safe for the participants and for spectators watching.”

The proposals were welcomed by town councillors at their latest meeting. Louise Parkin said: “I wholeheartedly support this idea – it will be a great family-friendly attraction on the beach.”

And Ian Jefferies, Business and Tourism Manager at BIARS, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I believe this will be fantastic – there is plenty of room for it and it will be another great facility for residents and visitors over the summer.”
