Burnham food festival duo reach finals of Chef of the Year contest

-

The organisers of Burnham-On-Sea’s Food and Drink Festival will be competing in the finals of the South West Chef of the Year Awards later this month.

Beverley and Sarah Milner Simonds are among four entrants to have reached the final of the competition, staged by Taste of the West and Michael Caines, at Ashburton Cookery School on October 19th.

They will have to prepare their dish – a rack of goat with frosted red currants and foraged mushrooms – to serve four people within 90 minutes.

Beverley told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It is great to be able to celebrate the super local food in our recipe and we are excited but a bit nervous to be cooking in front of superstar chefs like Michael Caines, Mark Hix and Nathan Outlaw.”

“We hope to do well and help spread the word that Somerset is home to some great food and drink producers.”
