Burnham-On-Sea bike nights set to return as supporters are thanked

-

Awards have been presented to the bikers who have been supporting a summer-long series of charity bike nights in Burnham-On-Sea, which came to an end on Tuesday evening (September 24th).

The bikers have been gathering in Burnham’s Morrisons car park every Tuesday during the summer months to raise funds for local charities, including the Dylan Cecil Memorial Fund in memory of the boy who died last year after drowning.

At Tuesday’s final bike night of the summer, the organisers said the events would return next year.

They also handed out awards to the owners of some of the best bikes to thank all those who have taken part. Winners were Viv and Richard Garkut from Brean (pictured above), Alfie Baker from Weston, and Wally Jewitt of Burnham, pictured below.

Co-organiser Phil Hayward told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re really pleased with how the event has gone over the summer and thank all those who came along to give us their support.”

“We hope to announce soon the final amount we have raised. We thank everyone who helped us, including Burnham Town Team, Burnham Carnival Committee and Hillview Carnival Club.”

“We will definitely be back again next summer, with a new series of bike nights starting in May.”

While the summer bike nights have now finished, he added that a winter gathering of bikers will take place over the winter on a fortnightly basis at TA8s Bistro Bar in Pier Street, starting on Tuesday October 1st.
