In photos and video: Burnham lifeboats rescue speedboat after fire

-

A speedboat was towed to safety by Burnham-On-Sea’s lifeboats this evening (Monday) after a small fire onboard.

Coastguards were alerted at 6.40pm when the speedboat was reported to be in difficulty on the falling tide, several hundred metres from Burnham’s low lighthouse.

Burnham RNLI’s lifeboats launched from the jetty and towed the drifting boat to the safety of the town’s jetty, as pictured here. No-one was hurt.

Earlier in the day, two people were rescued from rocks at Brean Down after getting cut off by the incoming tide.
