Home brewing competiton set to return at Burnham’s Food Festival

-

Home brewers are being encouraged to enter their beers and ales into the second ‘Great Burnham Brew Off’ at the town’s Food and Drink Festival later this month.

The home brewing will return as part of the autumn Burnham-On-Sea Food and Drink Festival taking place on September 28th.

“We loved Liam Penn’s scrumped cider at the May festival and this September we are searching for the best home brew ale – just bring a bottle of your top tipple along to the Princess Theatre to be in with a chance of being crowned Champion Brewer,” said Festival Director Beverley Milner Simonds.

“We know from brewing our own that there are so many variations, light golden beer, strong ale, stout, porter etc.”

“We want you to encourage the amateur brewers you know and love to compete, tankard to tankard, to win the Great Burnham Brew-Offs Champion’s Trophy. Entry is free: the glory is priceless!”

Brew-Off entries should be submitted, in any suitable container, at The Princess Theatre on the day of the festival by 1.30pm with a completed entry form.

The winner will be announced and The Great Burnham Brew-Off trophy will be presented at 2.30pm. Entries will be returned after judging.

Steve Dean of The Crossways Inn, West Huntspill will be the principle judge. The Crossways Inn was named Somerset CAMRA Pub of the Year 2013.
