Firefighters rescued a lady who became stuck on a river bridge at Highbridge Railway Station on Saturday (December 28th).

Three fire crews from Burnham and Bridgwater rushed to the station shortly after 2.15pm.

“The woman, aged in her 20s, had accidentally dropped her mobile phone over the side of the bridge on the Walrow side of the tracks,” a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“She got into difficulty when she clambered over the side of the bridge to try and retrieve the phone, but found she was unable to get back again.”

Two fire appliances from Burnham-On-Sea and a specialist rescue team from Bridgwater were sent to the scene.

Crews rescued her from the ledge using specialist ‘safety at height’ equipment.

The grateful lady was unharmed in the incident and was left in the care of a family member.
