The winners will be picked at a pageant to be held this Friday (6th September) from 7pm at Burnham Holiday Village.

The entrants will be asked to answer questions about their hobbies and interests and show an awareness of the community, plus a knowledge and understanding of the district.

“We have had a good response so far but wanted to give youngsters who may have been away over the summer holiday period a chance to enter, so the deadline has been extended until this Wednesday, September 4th,” ,” one of the organisers, Linda Bullimore, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

She added: “The Carnival Queen will be chosen as an ambassador for the Carnival as well as the precincts of Highbridge and Burnham. It is hoped that the Carnival Queen will assist with community cohesion projects in the area over the year.”

The pageant evening will include entertainment from the Lucy Gunter Dance School and a Katy Perry tribute. Sponsors are still being sought for the event.
